Amanda Scott, Amanda Scott Design Co.
Amanda and I haven’t met (yet) but I’ve followed her online for a while now. She creates beautiful brand identities and websites that are designed to look good as well as work well!
Amanda’s really down to earth and very friendly She’s another non coffee drinker too (have a look at some of the other interviews!) and you can find out a bit more about her below.
What coffee do you like to drink?
I’m actually more of an herbal tea drinker! My go-to is lemon ginger.
Tell me about the work you do
I live in North Idaho with my hubby and our two Australian Shepard pups. I’m a major design geek in many ways. I love the analytical side of website design, and thrive in the creativity of brand design. But I also enjoy interior design, product packaging, and studying typography.
I love working with small businesses to create a brand and website that elevates what they’ve already created. By taking it to a new level I help them step into their role as a business owner more fully, and help them feel more confident in their business in the process.

Great design should only elevate whatever the design is for. Sometimes I see too much focus on the design, and it can actually take away from the subject.

Great design elevates your brand by showcasing the value that you provide to your clients.
When lockdown eases, the first project I would like to design would be... because…
This is a slightly different answer, but like others, I’m looking forward to traveling once vaccines roll out on a larger scale. I would actually love to travel up the east coast of the US and visit friends I have over there!
What piece of design do you wish you’d created?
I’ve always admired various breweries branding. It always feels so warm and welcoming while still being eclectic.
What do you think makes someone a great designer?
Listening! Being able to really listen to the client needs and understand what they are looking for is something that is not easily learned.
If you weren't doing design, what would you be doing?
Ha! I’m not sure, really. I’ve always had a love for design. But I also love animals and dreamed of being a vet or zoologist when I was younger, so maybe something with animals.
