What comes to mind when you hear the word branding?

What comes to mind when you hear the word branding?

When you hear the word branding, what comes to mind? A logo? A business card? Some sort of icon? A combination of that maybe?!

Well Jeff Bezos (Owner of Amazon) says

“A brand is literally what people say about your business when you’re not in the room”.

Everything that someone thinks and feels about your business; what they say about your business to their friends and family…ultimately that’s what a brand is. And that’s why the way you build and visually present your brand is so important!

The visual parts will form your brand identity – the way that your audience immediately recognises your business. From your main logo, colours and fonts, to your stationery (business cards, letterheads and comp slips) and social media templates.  These elements are likely to be the first things that a client notices about your business. But remember, it’s not just about making something look pretty.

Here are 3 reasons why I think you really should put some thought into the way that you present your business both online and offline.

Reason 1

The way you present your business  has an impact on the type of clients you attract (and that’s regardless of whether you sell a product or a service) and how successful your business is. We all want to make sure that we’re speaking to the right people, that our messaging is making the right impression and presentation of your business plays a huge role in that. Clients often tell me that the new packaging I’ve designed for their products has helped to increase sales, or that their new logo and brochures have increased their social media following!

Reason 2

The way you present your business can make you look professional (or unprofessional!!!) and set you apart from your competitors and. Now I don’t mean professional as in corporate and stuffy – there’s nothing wrong with injecting a shed load of personality into your business, but if you compare a business that’s gone down the ‘investing in your branding’ route and a business that’s gone down the ‘I’m doing this myself because it’s too expensive route’ you’ll be able to tell them apart a mile away and so will your customers. And the chances are, they’ll go to the business that looks professional over the other one whose name they can’t remember!

Reason 3

If done correctly, the way you present your business will help make people fall in love with it. The people who fall in love with your business will be happy to recommend you to their friends and colleagues and that’ll make your business grow!

Consistency in your brand is key!
